Electricity blackout in Spain: how hospitals, airports and data centres continued to operate thanks to Inpro Group equipment<\/strong><\/h2>\n

On 28 April, a massive blackout<\/strong> left the entire Iberian Peninsula without electricity, affecting millions of people and key infrastructure in Spain, Portugal, and southern France. <\/strong>However, many hospitals, airports and data centres continued to operate normally. How was this possible?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The answer lies in backup power<\/strong> and systems that allow it to be activated without interruption or failure. And that is where the work we do at Inpro comes in.<\/p>\n

Critical energy in hospitals<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In centres such as the Hospital 12 de Octubre<\/strong> in Madrid, energy continuity is non-negotiable: every second without electricity can make a difference. Our equipment enabled the automatic pumping of diesel from the underground tanks to the generator sets,<\/strong> thus activating the emergency power system.<\/p>\n

But we don’t just pump: we filter the fuel<\/strong> to remove impurities and ensure safe and efficient operation of the generators.<\/p>\n

Airports that don’t stop<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Air traffic cannot be stopped by a blackout. Terminals such as Barajas T4 or Valencia Airport<\/strong> continued fully operational thanks to their back-up systems, where our equipment is also present,<\/strong> ensuring that diesel flows clean, constant and with optimum pressure.<\/p>\n

In a hyper-connected world, losing signal can come at a high cost. During the blackout, some areas and many people continued to have internet on their mobiles and calls, because the data centres of the major operators remained active,<\/strong> with no visible interruptions for users. This is achieved thanks to back-up solutions such as ours, which allow generators to kick in without fuel supply failures.<\/p>\n
